Still Life Stills Features: AutumnAlready it is September and here in the UK the first signs of Autumn are beginning to show after a last ditch attempt at the sky trying to give us some decent sunshine this year.
What to you defines the start of Autumn? Is it the weather, temperature, smell, trees, animals, food? For me this year it started with the sudden drop in temperature and the wind picking up. Then the skies started to darken and the first leaves fell. The biggest change for me this year though now that i am deeply into baking and food photography is the end of the summer baking. No longer are with summer berries for cool and refreshing desserts, instead is the turn of the warm and hearty.

Why is it so important to discuss the definition of Pixel Art? It becomes important not only when it comes time to update the category’s description for the sake of organisation and clarity, but also when confusion and misconceptions become increasingly common among those in the community itself. As Pixel Art grew from being primarily used for old computer and gaming systems, that could not handle much data and therefore not too many colours per palette, into something used with more contemporary technologies like Photoshop and MSPaint, Pixel Art itself was bound to reflect those changes. This change has become apparent in new styles, new techniques and questions around the need for the “old rules” of past

Celebrating Diversity #3Hello, everyone!
When we don't see enough of a particular art form, it is difficult for us to understand or appreciate it. This project aims to bring you features that you might not have seen otherwise from a variety of galleries around dA. For example, I tend to live and breathe photomanipulations and (to a lesser extent) digital art, and I really enjoyed taking a moment to browse the non-photomanipulation galleries for treasures. First of all: a friendly 'Hey there!' from me, because this is my first journal for #Still-Life-Stills

Being a part of our awesome team and always happy to introduce something new to our community, I'm very excited to start a new project.

The Monthly Recipe Challenge

"What is that?" You might wonder. I will answer all your questions!

Every month we will have a new recipe for you to try out! You will find those recipes on the 5th of each month in the Recipe Challenge folder in our gallery! The 4th of every month will therefore also be our deadline for submissions for that months recipe.
Each month will have their own sub-folder, as you can see.

We want you to bake or cook the recipes and take some awesome food still-life photos of what you created!
You can then submit those photos to the respective subfolder of the month and all the submitted shots will featured in a journal at the end of the month.

Up to two entries per person and month.

We will also give away prizes for the best photos!

There will be two prizes. The winners for those are chosen by looking at different criteria.

A 3 month premium membership to the one who submits the best Still-Life shot of the food from the recipe.

We will look at composition, creativity, technical aspects and overall impact.

100 points to the person who changed ingredients of the recipe the most creatively, without changing the recipe too much. This means that you could try this months apple cake with raspberries, but it could also mean that you cut the apples in a different way and use them for decoration on the top as well.

You are of course allowed to change around ingredients of the recipes, in case you have any allergies, or you think it'd simply taste better with or without certain ingredients.

You sure can! Everything works, as long as you think it fits the rest of the recipe

With the cinnamon maybe raspberries work the best, other than that maybe leave out parts of the cinnamon, or maybe even all of it.
